Training Programs

Courses

PREP Training has developed a series of instructional courses designed to introduce individuals and families to preparing for natural disasters and emergencies most common to East Texas. Designed as a tiered program, each course builds upon the foundation of the previous session to strengthen participants’ knowledge and readiness.

2

Seminars

Since the presentation of the first 'basic' PREP 101 course, there has been an observed need to provide more in-depth instruction on specific topics presented during the basic PREP Training Courses. What has resulted is a series of 2-3 hour intensive 'seminars' addressing single-topic subjects related to at least seven categories of preparation topics.

Workshops

Several seminars have been further developed into interactive Workshops, which maintain the educational depth of the traditional seminar format while adding a purposeful hands-on component. These workshops are intentionally designed for smaller groups, enabling stronger engagement and more personalized instruction.

"Be Prepared: A Practical Guide to Surviving Local Emergencies"

19 September

9:00 AM - Noon

Location: CCF Church Lindale

This initial introductory course is referred to as Preparation 101, or simply as "PREP 101" for short.  PREP 101 is designed to introduce the concept of readiness for local disasters or emergencies, highlight the importance of personal responsibility, and show how to ensure that you and your family are equipped to handle any of the all-too-common (at least in East Texas) short-duration emergencies.

Each course builds on the presented content of the previous course and is therefore a prerequisite to participating in the successive course levels.

The second-level course, referred to as Preparation 201, has been designed to pick up where PREP 101 left off and addresses specific challenges of disasters and emergencies that last longer than the initial three-day period or affect a greater geographic region. This is a more intense discussion of life-sustaining topics such as safe drinking water, food accessibility, power/energy sustainability, medical care needs, and the importance of community.

PREP 101 is a prerequisite to participation in PREP 201.
